Phase Energy
Martin Butters and Ian Biggin started Phase Energy Ltd in May 2010 as a consultancy dealing with innovation in various areas of industrial chemistry and, in particular, with phase change materials (PCMs).
These materials have been known for many years and used selectively in applications such as fabrics, where they can be designed to regulate the temperature of the wearer. However, they can also deliver passive or active temperature regulation in buildings, often without the need for air conditioning. They achieve this by providing “lightweight thermal mass”, which can be particularly effective in overcoming overheating problems in well insulated, lightweight modern structures and also in retrofit applications.
With nearly twenty years combined experience in this subject; Phase Energy Ltd is able to provide assistance right across the value chain; from raw material selection plus advice on entrapment and incorporation into end products. Assistance with various types of testing can also be provided.
